Shtetl Berlin is excited to introduce its first ever Kids program - a perfect opportunity for your child to experience Yiddish secular culture with some the finest artists and experienced children’s educators in the field.

These programs offer an opportunity to experience Yiddish music dance and culture together, or if your child is old enough, leave them to bond with other children while you relax at Ufa Fabrik’s lovely bar or enjoy a lecture or Yiddish music class!

To attend the children's workshops please register for a day/weekend pass, or you can simply show up and we will organize payment onsite.

Yiddish Fairytales & Klezmer Magic

Step into a world of wonder, music, and imagination! In this unique workshop, children will create their own fairytale inspired by Jewish folklore. Along the way, they’ll explore the joyful sounds of klezmer music—singing, playing instruments, and making art that brings their story to life.

Through music and storytelling, we’ll journey into the rich world of Yiddish culture. The children become both the storytellers and the orchestra, creating a magical performance together. No prior experience needed—just curiosity and creativity!

This workshop will be taught in two sessions tailored for different age groups. Both sessions are led by professional musicians and educators:

Emil Goldschmidt - Clarinet

Sanne Moericke - Accordion

Yeva Lapsker - Theater, Art

Rosamond Van Wingerden - Dance, Storytelling

About the two sessions

Our kids programs are separated into two age groups:

3-8 years old
&
8-12 years old

However, we realize not all children age the same way, and some families have particular schedules, so we will not be strictly enforcing the specified age group for each class, but rather see it as a guideline for the kinds of age-appropriate activities that will be done in each class, and trust the parents to make choices appropriate for their children and be responsible for providing as much oversight as needed.

Our teachers are trained professionals experienced in working with children, but we assume no liability for children left unaccompanied in the workshops.
