Shelley Etkin

Shelley Etkin is a transdisciplinary researcher, artist, educator, gardener and herbalist. Her work engages with relations between bodies and lands through intersecting place-based and multi-local knowledges in connection with the plant world. Integrating embodiment practices and herbal medicine in socially-engaged processes, she addresses land stewardship, migration, ancestral knowledges, and social-ecological transformation. Shelley is currently pursuing a PhD in Sociology/Ethnobotany (Ireland) alongside teaching in a range of contexts. She holds an MA in Ecology & Contemporary Performance (Finland) as well as a BA in Gender Studies (USA), and training in permaculture and homeopathy.
