SHTETL BERLIN 2024 WORKSHOPS
This year Shtetl Berlin offers two days of workshops in Yiddish song and instrumental music (klezmer) for participants of all levels.
The workshops will take place at Grüner Salon, upstairs in the Volksbühne Theater (Linienstr. 227, 10178 Berlin) from 12:00-17:00 on Saturday April 27 and Sunday April 28. Please register below.
Together we will explore Yiddish song and instrumental music (klezmer) for 5 hours per day (including breaks!) on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Our team-taught workshops are often conducted with all participants together in one room, and at other times vocalists and instrumentalists are separated, in order to better learn repertoire and more detailed aspects of style.
Our core team this year includes Patrick Farrell (accordion), Emil Goldschmidt (clarinet), Craig Judelman (violin), Sasha Lurje (voice), Sanne Möricke (accordion), and Ilya Shneyveys (accordion).
In addition we will offer special Spotlight Sessions, led by our friends and colleagues Alan Bern (accordion), Isabel Frey (voice), Francesca Ter-Berg (cello), and Sayumi Yoshida (dance). Alan, Isabel, Francesca and Sayumi will each lead a session which will dig into a special corner of Yiddish music with us.
Payment for the workshops is by cash donation only. The prices below are suggested donations. We have three payment levels. Please choose the one that works best for you.
Supporter's fee - if you can afford to pay more, your donation will help cover someone else's fee
Standard fee - if you can afford the standard price
Scholarship fee - if you can't afford the standard price
