Yiddish Poetry Reading & Discussion Workshop

On the night of 12 August 1952, thirteen Jewish intellectuals were executed in the Soviet Union after a fabricated trial. Among them were the Yiddish poets Leyb Kvitko, Itsik Fefer, Perets Markish, and Dovid Hofshteyn, as well as the writer Dovid Bergelson.
This year, we will gather to commemorate their lives and work by reading a selection of their poems and listening to songs based on their words. Together, we will reflect on their literary legacy, the circumstances that led to their deaths, and the ways in which their voices continue to resonate today.
