Venue: Prachtwerk, Ganghoferstraße 2 Tuesday, June 10, 19:30
A story-telling concert/Theater piece in Yiddish, English and German exploring shared heritage and trauma in Galicia-Volhynia.

Daniel Kahn & Christian Dawid
Daniel Kahn, Detroit-born Yiddish troubadour, joins his longtime sidekick, legendary Berlin klezmer multi-instrumentalist Christian Dawid, for a personal evening of songs new and old, smuggled across the borders of Yiddish, English, and German. A collection of brittle ballads, windswept klezmer, prison laments, revolutionary hymns and apocalyptic blues - drawn from the tradition of bards such as Gebirtig, Brecht, Brassens, Waits, Dylan, Cohen - and Kahn and Dawid's close collaboration in the cult cabaret band "The Painted Bird".
The Flying Rabbi
The Flying Rabbi is a klezmer band from Czechia that started back in 2001, when a group of high school friends by accident discovered klezmer music and Yiddish poetry. After almost 25 years, the they still stand strong, bringing their sound to stages across Europe and beyond. They love the traditional style and klezmer roots, but also translate from Yiddish and write their own instrumental tunes and songs in Czech, keeping things personal and alive. Their music is influenced by early klezmer recordings as well as by local musical traditions they grew up with. Bohemian in spirit, hartsik un mit a fayer.
