IT'S SHTETL BERLIN'S 2ND ANNUAL
NISHT KEYN FESTIVAL!
It's not quite a festival, rather a week of fun happenings, hosted by us and
by our friends and colleagues around town.
It's a not-no-festival!
Help us celebrate 10 years and 100 meetings of our beloved Neukölln Klezmer Sessions,
warmth and community at the end of the year,
and a freylikhn khanike far ale!!

To get our anniversary week off to a great start, we’ll be having an afternoon “zingeray” in our home, the back-room of Oblomov. Hosted by Sasha Lurje, it’s a great chance to learn some new songs, share one you like with the rest of the room, and sing some good-old familiar melodies together! Oblomov is kindly opening earlier than normal for us on this date, so don’t come early!
This event is open to everyone who wants to sing and/or listen to songs af yiddish. We hope this will be the start of regular song sessions beginning next year so stay tuned!

It’s not never not a not-festival without a dance party! We’re teaming up again with the good people at Interkulturelles Zentrum Genezareth for an evening of dancing and music. Dance-leader Yeva Lapsker will help you through the steps, and a crack band of Shtetl’s friends and organizers will make sure you stay on your feet. We’ll do our best to provide some drinks and snacks for donation, but feel free to bring some of your own as well.

In what has become one of our favorite annual traditions, Shtetl Berlin joins the Jewish Museum Berlin once again for their yearly Chanukka party! This year we have the pleasure of welcoming onto the stage our good friend Josh Dolgin aka So-Called, who will be visiting Berlin from his home in Montreal. (You have to hear his version of Moyshe Oysher’s “Drey dreydl”!) Joining Josh onstage will be another fantastic band of Shtetl’s family and friends. Click on the link above to see more plans for the evening. It’s always a sweet, deep-fried, singing khanike good time!
