Started in 2016 by the team behind the legendary Neukölln Klezmer Sessions, the newly-renamed Shtetl Berlin is the 4th grassroots gathering, celebrating the vibrancy and diversity of contemporary Yiddish culture in Berlin and around the world.
Thanks to a temporary pandemic-era fully-online format, Shtetl Berlin 2020 is open to anyone on any shore with internet access. Join us for a weekend of concerts, presentations, workshops, dances, food, songs, and jam sessions with an international community of artists and teachers. We’ll sing, play, converse, and cook from our own homes, studios, and work-spaces, gathering together from afar and affirming the continuing place of contemporary Yiddish culture in the fascinating multi-ethnic fabric of Berlin life.
